She is sweetly shameless...and she can be a naughty girl when inspired, always a bit outrageous and bold, she is fascinated with all things erotic and believes in speaking her truth out loud. Maybe this is because of the unusual life she has led....an anti-war and civil rights activist in the 60s and 70s....then moving into an integrated intentional community, Synanon, in the early 70s after being hired as a teacher in their communal school, and living in community for almost 20 years. The Synanon tradition of truth telling and verbal confrontation gave her a taste for uninhibited speech and expanded her range of acceptance of human eccentricity. In her spoken word work, she carries on a tradition of free speech that her sisters been practicing since the time of Blue Stockings. She is even has an ancestor, Victoria Claflin Woodhull, who was an outspoken advocate of women's suffrage, free love and the women's right to choose childlessness and who ran for President in the late 1800s before women could even vote on a ticket with Frederick Douglas as Vice Presidential candidate.SweetnShameless has been an erotic short story writer and poet for many years but only started performing at Spoken Word venues in the last two years since moving to Oakland in August 2006. She has performed at open mics like "Mouth Off" Wednesday at the Air Lounge, at Dorsey's Blue Candle Cometri event hosted by 'jusBea, one of the Punnanny Poets of HBO fame, the Joyce Gordon gallery "Oakland is a Holy City" reading and "10 Kweens and a Mic" reading at La Pena Cultural Center in Berkeley, CA hosted by Paradise Freejalove. She competed in the Berkeley, Oakland and San Francisco Poetry Slams in 2007 and made semi-finals in the Oakland Slam that year. She has been a regular at "Tourettes Without Regrets" Vaudeville show in Oakland...competing in, and sometimes winning, the Dirty Haiku contest and the Poetry Slam. She recently featured at The "Empowering Women of Color Conference" at UC Berkeley and for "Deep In ‘da Sheetz" Show hosted by Mz Dee in Richmond, CA. She has her first CD called "Foreplay" in a collaboration with IYA KHAN, a talented musician and composer.
