| Timeka began writing she was 11 years old. She found encouragement from her mother, her teachers, and others in her life. She says she would like to become, "The best writer in the world," and believes that, "Every aspect of life is writing material." She actively seeks mentoring from established poets and writers, and says that her favorite poet is Maya Angelou. Timeka enjoys writing about life situations and thanks her grandmother for her gift because her grandmother wrote poetry also. Recently she has performed at The TruNiVerse Explosion and come under the tutelage of local giant, "Tru Sista". She says she likes to perform her poetry because it helps her overcome her shyness and gives her the opportunity to see how the audience reacts to her work. Timeka is proud of her achievements in school and in the Spoken Word arena. She plans to continue her education and pursue a degree in Literature. |
