For Dave Tolliver, it all started in the St. Paul AME Zion Church Buds of Promise Choir.  “I’d take all the music from the main studio in to the production studio and make my own commercials with Parliament records, Confunkshun, the Bar-Kays, and Brides of Frankenstein…”

Tolliver was raised b a single mother and grandmother who infused him with a sense of pride in who he was.  Armed with that knowledge, Tolliver started dancing with the local crew and singing at local talent shows.  It wasn’t long before Levert came across the talented young man – and so began a collaboration that resulted in several hit singles.

Along the way, Tolliver met Gemini at a show in Chicago. While Tolliver had honed his skills in the church, Gemini was banging it out on the streets.
