Lil’ Boxx, born Christopher Kelson February 28 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, began rapping at age 13. Rappers such as Soulja Slim, Tupac, Dipset, and many local rappers inspired Lil’ Boxx to become a rapper. He began writing lyrics in his composition tablet and free styling with classmates and neighborhood friends. At age 17, Lil’ Boxx, his cousin, and a friend formed a rap group called “Da Wrecking Crew”. They recorded their first song, performed at school talent shows and house parties. Later recognized, the group signed with Big Faces Entertainment. Shortly after, the group later split to explore other options in life. With Lil’ Boxx left as a solo artist, he then decided to continue his dream of becoming a rapper.

Continuing to write and record, Lil’ Boxx began working on his first project, Bring The Pain Mixtape Vol.1: I’m All I Got. Then tragedy hit, his grandfather died from liver cancer. Being that this was the only father figure he had, Lil’ Boxx did not know how to deal with the life-changing experience. Life changed for the worst, he was then expelled from school his senior year failing to graduate, he and his mother never saw eye-to-eye which led to him moving out and in with a friend. That summer he worked numerous 9 to 5 jobs, quitting and getting fired, Lil’ Boxx was not satisfied with the outcome of his life. He then decided to return to school and earned his high school diploma.

After graduation, Lil’ Boxx finished up his mixtape and it was released February of 2008; it sold about 200 copies locally. The featured hit single “Full Throttle” has been featured on many underground mixtapes and various internet radio sites. The song has also been aired on the local radio station during local artist spotlight. Lil’ Boxx has performed at many clubs and venues in Louisiana and Mississippi. He has opened up for artists such as Lil’ Boosie, Webbie, and Foxx and is often categorized as artists such as T.I., Lil’ Wayne, and Soulja Boy.
